December Winners

Oops! This is a bit later than planned. How silly that the change in format caught me out!!! We had 75 wonderful submissions for our December challenge of PICK A PREVIOUS 2016 CHALLENGE. There was a super variety of cards including funny, vintage, cute, traditional, CAS, dimensional, and layered. As always, it was very tough picking all our winners, but here they are:

WINNER

A wonderful Christmas landscape (theme#51).
The sky is stunning - both blending and colours.
The depth achieved here is fabulous - hard to tell it's only one layer.

HONOURABLE MENTIONS
(in order of submission)

A super CAS Christmas card using both a sketch and colours.
Love the way you've paper pieced the coat and scarf.

#17 - Carol

Carol based her design on the wrapper around a soap dispenser! Looks wonderful.
She used Christmas landscapes as her theme. The sky is beautifully blended.

Stunning clean and simple Christmas landscape card.
We really like how the die cut is laid over the background image.

This is a fun Christmas landscape with the cute dog driving his car full of gifts!
The image is beautifully coloured.

Dashing through the woods to get that tree home!
Lovely Christmas landscape made with dies. Still so delightfully CAS.

Congratulations to all our winners. It looks like the Christmas landscape theme was really popular with everyone!! Do pick up your winners badges from out Badges tab and display them on your blogs.

Now, before I go, I want to remind you that we still have another week to go with our current challenge. We want to see your Christmas cards based on this sketch - CCT01:

You can turn or flip the sketch, but we have to be able to see the basis sketch in your finished card. It really isn't too early to make a start on your 2017 stash - it will certainly make life less stressed in December. Do have fun!

January - Sketch - Some Changes

Good morning and Happy New Year! It's Deborah here with you today. I'm sure you have probably noticed that the blog has undergone a few changes since last year! We have added several new members to the team - please make them welcome, drop by and leave comments - we all love them!

We have also had a bit of a face-lift and changed up our colours. We have one other MAJOR change to the challenge. As you can see, the challenge name has been changed to CHRISTMAS CARD THROWDOWN. This is because we are changing from a weekly challenge to twice monthly challenge. We will be publishing challenges on the first and third Saturday of each month and they will run for two weeks. We are keeping the same format as previous years
  • Sketch
  • Colours
  • Theme
  • Technique or Stash
So, now that we're all up to speed, it's time to show you our sketch.

You can make your card square or switch it to rectangular. You can flip the sketch, turn it on its side and you don't have to use a star. BUT we DO have to be able to see the basic sketch in your card.

Here's some inspiration using our sketch from the new and expanded Design Team:

Before we go here's a quick reminder of our rules:
  • We are a Christmas card challenge - please post only Christmas or winter-related cards.
  • Please mention Christmas Card Throwdown in your post and provide a link so that others can join our challenge too.
  • Please link to your blog post and NOT your entire blog.
  • Your project must be new - no back links please.
  • The challenge will close at midnight GMT/7:00 pm Eastern time on the Friday before the start of the next challenge.
  • You may combine this challenge with up to 10 other challenges.
  • Please turn off word verification so that we may comment on your card more easily. We realise that you may use it for safety reasons, however it can be very frustrating when commenting on many challenge participants. We strongly suggest using comment moderation as a friendlier alternative.
Deadline for entry to this challenge is midnight GMT on Friday 20th January - that's 7.00pm EDT for those of us in the States. Have fun!
